Further logo development

Based around the same concept I have finally sketched out three variations of my final logo idea, the main changes I have made to each logo is to the central curved rectangular shape incorporating unique adaptations to each mockup. My main inspiration for the designs are derived from the features and visuals of the swiss army knife.  In the first draft I decided to incorporate both text and an illustration, the second I included solely the illustration of the the moustache whilst re-positioning the text, I personally preferred the text in this position. The third design I included the traditional barber pole aspect keeping the text in the same position as the previous draft. Out of the three designs ,the logo including the barber pole feature is my favourite as I feel it is the most effective, corresponding with the other features of the logo well.

First draft logo concepts

These are a two of logos I have created after a couple of hours experimenting with illustrator these logos will aid me and have created a starting point for further logo development, I have created different designs but however have used similar features throughout continuing the theme/style both logos incorporating features that easily represent their purpose. Im content with these mock logos but I think I will elaborate on the designs and create new concepts, or alternatively use them as a secondary logo as they are relatively simple and can be presented in a smaller scale whilst still being easily identified.

Design Layout

I have created my own magazine pages on InDesign using the mood board I made to aid me with layouts and proportions, I learnt from researching other magazines that the majority of them have use the same design and style throughout their magazines. I have represented this in my own keeping within the same style with aspects such as the colour scheme remaining the same. This was good practice for me and has helped me gain further ideas which I can develop on and use when creating my leaflet for ‘Le Barbe Magnifique’.

Analysis of typeface

Since having previously established a vintage/italic style for my type, I started to download various typefaces that fit in with the criteria I had specified. I then put them onto illustrator and started to play around with the sizing ,spacing and tracking also displaying the texts in various forms, for example adding curvature. After experimenting I came to a conclusion and have decided to lay my text in a standard straight form and I will use the typeface called “Little Ricky” as I feel it embodies the vintage and authentic style I want to present the most effectively.
